GOLFZON’s ‘Tournament Within A Tournament’ To Make Its Debut at The EWGA Cup in California

PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FL, USA – (Oct. 27, 2016) GOLFZON (, a global leader in golf simulators, has partnered with the Executive Women’s Golf Association ( to introduce a new tournament concept, the “Tournament Within A Tournament,” during the EWGA Cup November 8-12, 2016 at The Westin Mission Hills Golf Resort & Spa in Rancho Mirage, CA.

For the first time, the “Tournament Within A Tournament” concept combines actual two days of Singles and Four-Ball Team Match Play with a golf simulator competition held simultaneously in The Westin’s Celebrity Ballroom. The Troon Golf-operated Pete Dye and Gary Player Signature Courses will host the 400-participant field, consisting of teams of eight women from various EWGA Chapters across the United States. The stand-alone simulator competition will award its eight-player Team Champions over a three-hole (Pebble Beach Golf Links’ famous 16th, 17th and 18th holes) alternate-shot competition on three Golfzon simulators with points awarded for separate Long Drive and Closest to the Hole contests. The combined points earned from the alternate-shot event and the skill competitions determine the winners.

GOLFZON displayed its golf simulators widely this summer as a part of the company’s long-standing philosophy to help others in need and by making golf enjoyable for everyone. A simulator was donated in mid-August to the Roy W. Roberts II Watts/Willowbrook Boys & Girls Club in inner-city Los Angeles. LPGA star Alison Lee, a GOLFZON Ambassador, was on hand for the presentation along with nine-time All-Star basketball guard Chris Paul, whose foundation has benefitted the facility. In mid-September, Ryder Cup week began with the donation of a simulator to PGA REACH, the philanthropic arm of the PGA of America, for use by the Minneapolis location for the Department of Veterans Affairs. Derek Sprague, the President of the PGA of America, spoke to open the Veterans & Family Golf Clinic on Monday, Sept. 26 and recognized GOLFZON YUWON GROUP Chairman Young Chan Kim for the company’s contribution.

LPGA rising star Alison Lee, KEB HANA BANK CHAMPIONSHIP runner-up

GOLFZON sponsored athlete Alison Lee! Even as a runner-up, she had many Korean fans.

LPGA rising star, Alison Lee, sadly finished runner-up at the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship held at the Sky72 Golf Club in Incheon, South Korea. Despite her 2nd place finish, Alison received an unparalleled amount of popularity in South Korea and demonstrated her potential as a major player on the tour. Alison Lee, a former #1 ranked U.S. junior golfer, currently attends the prestigious UCLA university with a golf scholarship. She received the ANNIKA Award, which is presented every year to the Most Outstanding Female Collegiate Golfer. In 2015, she signed a sponsorship agreement with GOLFZON, an official simulator partner of the LPGA. Alison made her debut 2 years ago and finished in the top 10 ten times, but she has yet to record a win.

Even though the 2016 KEB Hana Bank Championship was only her third tournament in South Korea, Alison has captured the hearts of many Korean golf fans with her playing skills, spoken fluency in Korean, love for Korean cuisine, and her Korean parents. Following her first participation in this tournament last year, Alison started this years tournament on fire with her amazing skills. Considering the amount of talent at this tournament, including the world  #1 ranked female golfer Lydia Ko, defending tournament champion Lexi Thompson, and LPGA legend Se Ri Pak, Alisons presence brought even more spotlight to this tournament. She finished the first day of the tournament as the sole leader at 7 under par.

Alison, with her brilliant shots, maintained her lead through the first three rounds but unexpectedly made a fatal mistake in the fourth round. As Carlota Ciganda started closing in on her score, Alison bogeyed the 18th hole and lost in the playoff when her second shot found the rough. In the end, she finished in 2nd place and Carlota Ciganda became the latest tournament champion. Even though Alison displayed some tears of regret in her loss, she cheerfully talked about her extraordinary experience in South Korea on her social media channels. She thanked her many fans by saying, It felt like a major this week with the large number and supportive fans along with the hospitality.

The day after her completion of the LPGA KEB Hana Bank Championship, Alison participated in a GOLFZON, South Koreas premier golf simulator company, sponsored charity golf tournament. The event was held at the GOLFZON County Anseong Q course, where Alison Lee was teamed up with former LA Dodger pitcher Chan Ho Park for a round of fun and enjoyment. Afterwards, Alison donated the same wedge that put her in the rough on the 18th hole to the charity auction. And as proof of Alison Lees popularity, the wedge commanded a high price at the auction.
